The Mexican-American War

Conflict:

          The conflict between the U.S. and Mexico arose with the question of who owned Texas.

Compromise: 

          The war ended with the Treaty of Guadalupe, leaving the U.S. in control of Texas and much more territory.  

Overview:

         The war lasted from 1846 to 1848.  The U.S. defeated Mexico with ease.  The war ended with the battle of Mexico City.  The Treaty of Guadalupe was signed, declaring peace between the U.S. and Mexico.  Through the treaty, the U.S. gained California, Nevada, Utah, and parts of Arizona and New Mexico.
